Imagine losing your home and everything in it. What might you need? As Port Sulphur residents begin to return to their community to rebuild, they will need everything. The federal government and various relief organizations are helping, but can it ever be enough? Some of the greatest needs right now are as follows--do you have anything you might be able to spare?
Bedding
Towels
Pots & pans
Dishes & cutlery
Blankets
Cleaning supplies
Personal toiletries
You can help in a number of ways:
1. Donate goods by dropping them off at Portland City Hall, 259 Kent Street
2. Cash donations may be made to Portland Community Arts Council, P.O. Box 272, Portland MI 48875. Please mark your donation for "Building Bridges." (The PCAC is a not-for-profit organization; your donation may be tax deductible.)
3. Anyone wishing to aid in the recovery of Plaquemines Parish can donate funds to the "Project Rebuild Plaquemines." Mail to 106 Ave. G, Belle Chasse, LA 70037, Attention: Janice Buras. All donations will go directly to the rebuilding of Plaquemines Parish. A community committee of business leaders, residents and parish officials will be formed to designate the disbursements of funds.
